After all, burglars mostly try to break in by way of the most vulnerable weak point: the window. Simple window fittings without a mushroom head lock are then the weakest link in the security chain by far.
Therefore, not only is the best armor glass imperative for burglary protection but a secure window fitting with a mushroom head lock, too. This mushroom head lock is basically very simple: It consists of the so-called "mushroom pin" and the locking part that are firmly connected together when the window is closed. And thus protects so effectively against prying open; at least the time delay is important, which makes the burglary impossible in most cases.
Generally speaking, windows only have standard "roller pins". For this reason, retrofitting with mushroom pins is a very frequent as well as stringent requirement for a rock solid security concept. Incidentally, several mushroom head locks are used for larger windows.
